Fuck the Fuck Right Off

I'm recalling some things from when I was in elementary school. Things that annoy me 40+ years later. Like, why were we told that Russians loved their athletes and dancers more than "actual" heroes, while here we are in the US rewarding athletes with adoration and bazillion dollar contracts and also Dancing With The (fucking) Stars? Why were we told that "now we know" there is only "one god" vs the awesomeness of Greek mythology? WTF? How did that slip past everyone? Also, who else wanted to murder someone when there was the "do a report on your hero" bullshit assignments: you're teaching me about racist/sexist asshats - where are the sheroes? Ah, but in the 1970s school system, there were two ladies: Helen Keller and Harriet Tubman. Does anyone know who Caroline Herschel is? or Barbara McClintock? how about Mary the Jewess? or Valentina Tereshkova? Marie Curie you probably have heard of; and you certainly know who Jane Goodall is. But I am in my early 50s and actually only learned about most of these women while I was looking for the name of a woman not on this list because she is wicked famous but I am wicked old and forgetful. I'm hating America's old white men more and more each day and if one more idiot says "not all" fuck the h*ck right off. Terry Gilliam's recent rant just turned me off to everything he's ever done and he can fuck the h*ck right off - "I didn't do anything..." fuck off and know that if you weren't part of the problem then no one lumps you in the sum. When you need to point out that "it wasn't me!" then you're totes a part of the problem and you should totally fuck off. Fuck the fuck right off.

"ISS at Night"

[From The Huffington Post]

Wow. This time-lapse video compiling thousands of photos from the International Space Station beautifully reveals what it's like to fly by Earth at nearly 18,000 miles per hour--and the view is pretty jaw-dropping.

Put together by photographer Knate Myers, the video shows the ISS at night and is set to music from the film "Sunshine."

“Every frame in this video is a photograph taken from the International Space Station. All credit goes to the crews on board the ISS," Myers wrote in the caption accompanying his video on Vimeo. "I removed noise and edited some shots in photoshop. Compiled and arranged in Sony Vegas.”

Take a look at Myers' stunning time-lapse above, and be prepared to get chills. Can't get enough? A previous time-lapse video by Tomislav Safundžić also offers a spectacular look at space.

Jack and White recently released their new EP "Undercover", which (surprise!) is a collection of six really good covers of songs from the 60s thru today.  Check out their video for ELO’s “Telephone Line” featuring Fitz of "Fitz and the Tantrums":
