Wrist Watch (and Listen) | ||
| ||
If you’ve noticed the new iPod Nano is roughly the same size as a watch, you’re not alone. And lots of those people were willing to put money down on the idea to turn it into one. Transforming Apple's tiny marvel into a touch-screen wristwatch are the TikTok and LunaTik multi-touch watch kits, set to launch this month. TikTok works snap-in style, like ski bindings. The more expensive LunaTik secures your Nano in aerospace grade aluminum. So far they’ve received rave reviews, and most of the first run have already been claimed. That’s because besides the simple and obvious brilliance of this little innovation, how it came to market could be the biggest success of all. These watches are for the people, crowdfunded by the people. In return for early access to the product, more than 13,000 people chipped in with donations to Kickstarter to help designer Scott Wilson develop the watch, raising almost a million dollars — more than 60 times his original fundraising goal. Even for those of us who didn’t get in on the ground floor, no sweat, your watch will come in 6-8 weeks – giving you plenty of time to get your iPod Nano playlists straight. |
